Kiddo — app screenshots

Overview

Kiddo is a Tinder-style app for nanny sharing. Families swipe to find other families nearby, match, chat, and split the cost of a nanny between them. It has everything you’d expect from the format: swiping, matching, messaging and a discovery algorithm.

My role

Sole developer. I built the iOS app, the Android app and the backend, working from the founder’s designs straight through to both stores.

Hardest part

Matching, chat and discovery are the parts you cannot trust the client with. A one-person project had no backend team to hand them to, and getting them wrong means families see each other’s data.

I built the backend on Firebase and pushed every rule that matters to the server: Firestore security rules gate what a client can read, and Cloud Functions own match creation and notifications, so the apps stay thin and the logic lives in one place for both platforms.

Architecture & stack

Flutter for iOS and Android from a single codebase, with flutter_bloc for state management and go_router for navigation.

Firebase for the whole backend, Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Storage, Remote Config, Crashlytics, Analytics and push. RevenueCat for subscriptions, Hive for local storage, Mixpanel for product analytics, and GitHub Actions for code and formatting checks.
